Sfera Agricola

Sfera Agricola is a leader in the Italian agricultural sector, operating one of the most advanced high-tech facilities for soilless cultivation; the single-unit Hydroponic Greenhouse is designed to maximize efficiency and sustainability.

Located in Grosseto, it stands out for its commitment to sustainable agricultural practices, replacing synthetic chemical treatments with methods of biological control and introducing beneficial insects that contribute to natural pest control.

Its commitment to quality is demonstrated by the Nickel Free food certification, making it the first company in Europe to obtain this certification, which guarantees that its products are free of metal contaminants.

In the world of tomatoes, there is a great deal of innovation and research; the company produces nine varieties of tomatoes and operates on 13 hectares of covered area.

This system represents the ultimate in installations of this type, as it was the first system of this size to be built here in this type of greenhouse.

In recent years, due to climate change, the company has found itself facing a very significant problem: extreme heat.

Consequently, the need arose to air-condition a large area of the greenhouse to mitigate the problems caused by the heat.

It is a Multi-pump System, controlled by control units and then by a main control unit.

The multi-pump system allows for the simultaneous activation of all six sectors where we have installed the High-pressure Fog System.

Based on the current climate conditions, the pump starts up at that moment, sprays, and brings the climate conditions back within the range of preset values.

Sfera uses 90% rainwater, which is collected from the greenhouse roof and recirculated into the system after being sanitized and re-fertilized for subsequent irrigation cycles.

Another key aspect is the uniformity of distribution inside the greenhouse, thanks in part to the use of nozzles with very fine orifices, which effectively lower the temperature and raise humidity to standard levels.

The nozzle is drip-free, so it prevents waste and ensures that no drops fall on the leaves, which could otherwise lead to problematic diseases later on.
